With the MACD you can see if the shorter period EMA line is above or below the longer period line. I personally use it to identify what direction a stock has the most moment to go in. The more distant the MACD is above or below its baseline indicates that the distance between the two EMAs is growing. The MACD has a positive value while the 12-period EMA (blue) is above the 26-period EMA (red) and is a negative value when the 12-period EMA is below the 26-period EMA. This indicator is a trend-following momentum indicator that shows the relationship between two moving averages of a stock’s price. #2 MACD( Moving Average Convergence Divergence) I sell when the price crosses below the purple line while still being below the blue EMA line. When I am looking to exit a position I found that I get the best results when I exit a trade at the first sign of a possible reversal. What each line representants on my picturesīlue = 15-period Exponential moving average If I see it cross below the ema line I would see it as a possible reversal if it stays below the EMA line and crosses the middle VWAP line if that happens I will be looking for a short position. Whenever the price is trading between the upper two VWAP lines and then crosses the EMA line I would buy as a long position(A position saying the price will continue up). I like pairing the VWAP indicator with the 15 EMA(Exponential Moving average) A declining VWAP, and/or the price below the VWAP line, means the price is likely in a downtrend and usually means that call options are a good idea.A rising VWAP, and/or the price above the VWAP line, means the price is likely in an uptrend and usually means that call options are a good idea.When the price is below VWAP they only look to initiate short positions. When the price is above VWAP they look only to initiate long positions. Traders tend to use VWAP more as a trend confirmation tool, similar to a moving average. You can use this information to find out if you are buying a stock at a good price or not. This indicator gives the average price per share based on both the volume and price the stock has traded at throughout the day.
With that being said here are my 3 FAVORITE indicators in order. Looking at the direction of the chart before trading can save you from making potentially portfolio destroying trades. This is important because if the stock has a descending pattern and the indicators signal a buy it’s most likely a fake out and will continue to make lower lows. It is critical that you look at the overall chart of the stock and analyze the overall direction of movement prior to looking at the indicators. I emphasize the golden rule, which is never to rely on just indicators to find entry and exit points.
